This isn't the first day I have had this issue. Google finds a lot of posts from other people who liked the old search, but no answers. Go into My Computer, and look in the upper-right corner; you'll see the search. The first is by clicking the Start Menu, and clicking Search; the second is by right clicking My Computer and clicking Search.
For example, *letter.* will find Holiday letter.doc, Special letter.doc, and Special letter.txt. at least from every single person I heard from that used Vista, it was a nightmare. The issue remains with Search however... Then go to the top left and click on Tools\Folder options\ then the View Tab.
